Dentistry

Dental Services for Your Pet at Cherokee Animal HospitalImagine if your teeth had never been brushed or cleaned!

Terrible breath and constant pain would be the result. Plaque, gingivitis and periodontal disease occur in pets just like us. These processes lead to infection and pain generally requiring extraction of many teeth. But dental care is not just about saving teeth. Dental infection can lead to infection of other parts of the body, including the heart, liver and kidneys. 80% of dogs, and 50% of cats over 3 yrs old have severe periodontal disease needing immediate care. Brushing daily is the gold standard of dental care but few of us can accomplish this regularly enough to make an impact. We can now provide additional treatments for your pets teeth that help extend the life of our cleaning in conjunction with brushing at home.
